Activities continue at the Bethlehem Center in benefit of the disabled in order to improve their living conditions. With the generous help of PIME USA donors, the following services were implemented: consultation and diagnosis of patients to better intervene; orthopedic surgery of patients; monitoring and administration of medications to surgery patients and rehabilitation.
Two nurses and two physicians assisted 33 people (18 men, 9 women, 6 children). Patients were either x-rayed on site at the Foundation or sent to Maroua for x-rays. Thirteen patients were in need of surgery and were tended to at the Meskine Hospital. In addition, patients received post-operative care and medications at the Foundation as well as rehabilitation.
The different levels of intervention for people with disabilities has not only helped the rehabilitation of the disabled, but it has served to raise awareness about the value of disabled persons.
