PIME Regional Superior in India, Fr. Vijay Rayarala has updated us on the medical project with dispensaries in the Eluru Diocese. Father informs that in the last 16 months the project implemented health checks and medical camps in 8 villages of the PIME - Luigi Pozzoli Hospital target areas. In these areas, 3,129 people were seen for health checkups in medical camps; of these 2,894 people received medications through the dispensaries in 8 villages or “dispensary access points” in Hanuman Nagar, Gavaravaram, Venkateswara Colony, Satrampadu, Xavier Nagar, Duggirala, Joseph Nagar, and Koppaka gudem. The children of St Xavier’s Orphanage also received regular health checkups and medication through the dispensaries, as well as the people with leprosy who are in Hanuman Nagar and Vegavaram.

Father informed the following services were provided thanks to your generosity: general medical consultations, blood sugar testing for diabetes (Kidney, etc.), blood pressure checks, orthopedic, ENT, gynecological, and dermatological consultations, screening for vision issues and optical medication, referrals to higher/government hospitals as needed by patients, counseling, medication distribution and regular follow up.  Fr. Rayarala is grateful to PIME USA donors for continuing their care for the poor and needy in Eluru.
