Children and Parish in Myanmar Stay Safe Thanks to PIME USA Supporters

Published Mon, Aug 24, 20. Written by Kathleen Connors.

Fr. Peter updated us on the completion of the security project for Mong Lin.  He wrote: “A meeting was conducted with parishioners as soon as we knew that the project submitted was approved. We started the wall construction in March and ended in April. During the process workers worked their best led by a catechist. By the grace of God, we have made good and successful results amidst the outbreak of COVID-19. Now we feel happy, secure, confident, and safe and sound for we have implemented the wall construction with ease.

The Mong Lin, Holy Trinity Parish, mission center compound is about 15.66 acres. The parishioners had tried to rebuild the wall in 2017 due to the destruction of Tarlay earthquake, but only a little part was done. In 2020, we implemented the wall in order to maintain the mission’s land, to protect and guard the parish center, which is exposed to burglary, theft, and confiscation. And we have to protect the parish center from the destruction of animals. The children who are at the boarding house can feel safe and sound now. Moreover, we can grow plants and vegetables to initiate self-support. And we no longer fear the military’s threat in the future for we have walled the parish compound for ownership.

Your financial help is greatly appreciated for safeguarding the mission’s land as the missionaries’ legacy, also protecting children from exploitation, abuse, human trafficking and drug-addiction, and preventing confiscation of the land by military force.”
