The villagers of Gowrampalem are poor day-laborers in the Diocese of Vijayawada in India. Their central place of worship was a 43-year-old chapel falling apart from the effects of time and the elements. Thanks to the generosity of PIME USA's donors of the 2018 Serata fundraising dinner, the faithful of the village were able to construct a new chapel. As the parishioners had little money to construct their new communal home, their contribution was their time, effort and labor. The new chapel will serve as a center for activities and gatherings, as well as a beacon of the faith in the community. The PIME USA Serata donors remain in their daily prayers for the kindness and care received.

PIME Missionary Fr. George Puthenpura has provided an update on the construction progress of the chapel in Gowrampalem village. The chapel is coming along nicely with initial brickwork and pillars. The following remaining to complete: wall around, plastering, flooring tiles, concrete roof, and painting. The altar and sanctuary, stair case, and exterior landscaping also need to be completed. He expects the chapel to be finished before Easter this year and will provide further updates as the work progresses.
