Bangladesh is one of the poorest countries in the world with an extremely precarious national healthcare system. Public institutions are becoming more and more private, excluding the weakest segments of the population. The consequence is that healthcare is a privilege of the few while most of the population is excluded from the most basic services.
PIME’s missionaries in Bangladesh have operated the Assistance Center for the Sick for years, recently moving it within the compound of the PIME House in Dhaka. In 2022 they took care of over 1,000 patients and hope to increase the care they provide each year. The PIME Missionaries in Bangladesh needs annual support of $8,138 to help poor patients with their health options locally or at central hospitals, including expensive procedures and testing.
