PIME Missionary Fr. Paolo Ballan works in the Suihari Mission in Dinajpur, Bangladesh, a Christian community in a mainly Muslim area. His rural mission includes 48 villages and has about 4,800 parishioners. Most of the people in Suihari are of the ethnic Santal group or other ethnic tribes (Oraon, Mahali, Bormon). Fr. Paolo saw a great need for strengthening the catechists of his mission villages. With proper training and materials, they can assist and support area youth through their pastoral work. Many youth leave their villages for work or school so those that remain are often the weakest academically or otherwise disadvantaged. To respond to this need, Fr. Paolo created a 3-year project for strengthening and training catechists that requires $16,241 annually. Your assistance for this project will support the catechists in Suihari, helping them uplift the youth of Dinajpur.
