The parish of Sao Joaquim do Pacui in Macapá is home to subsistent farmers who earn about R$1300,00 ($350.00) per month. They live off the land and protect the forest from threats posed by agribusiness and lumber companies. The community struggles to support the parish due to financial constraints and lacks the resources to maintain its spaces. The pastoral center is in disrepair and the recent collapse of the center's roof has made the project even more challenging for the people to rebuild and renovate the much-needed space. The parish’s Deacon, Deacon Gilson Dos Santos, has prepared a plan for the renovation that requires $20,078. Your support for this project will help the community rebuild the parish pastoral center so they may continue to hold religious education for all levels and social meetings and gatherings in building their faith community.
