PIME Missionary Fr. Dowluri Suresh Kumar, or Fr. Bosco as he is known, is the pastor of Our Lady of Good Help Parish in Barreirinha in the Brazilian Amazon. His mission includes not just the river city of Barreirinha and its outskirts, but also the people who live on the riverbanks and in the Indigenous lands of the Sateré-mawé and Quilombola (Afro-descendant) ethnic groups. Many of the communities of his mission live in extreme hardship, with houses built of wood that are flooded and, at times, washed away by the river in the rainy season.
In 2023 and 2024, PIME U.S. supporters assisted Fr. Bosco in providing food to those in need while he served as a pastor in the slums of São Paulo. Again in early 2025, during his initial food distribution in Barreirinha, they contributed $6,111 to support these critical efforts.
Father Bosco continues his vital ministry in the Amazon river region through the second half of 2025 and into 2026. With a budget of $6,438, he is able to provide essential monthly support to numerous poor families for over six months. Beyond addressing their physical hunger, Fr. Bosco also aims to bring spiritual comfort to the many souls entrusted to his care. Your contributions to this initiative shine a light of hope in these isolated communities and grow parish activities that help support their struggling families.
