PIME Missionary Fr. Dowluri Suresh Kumar, or Fr. Bosco as he is known, recently became the pastor of Our Lady of Good Help Parish in Barreirinha in the Brazilian Amazon. His new mission includes not just the river city of Barreirinha and its outskirts, but also the people who live on the riverbanks and in the Indigenous lands of the Sateré-mawé and Quilombola (Afro-descendant) ethnic groups. Many of the communities of his mission live in extreme hardship, with houses built of wood that are flooded and, at times, washed away by the river in the rainy season.
Our PIME USA supporters helped Fr. Bosco in 2023 and 2024 to distribute food to the needy when he was a pastor in the slums of São Paulo. Father Bosco is now continuing this same ministry among the people of his new mission. With $6,111 the food basket project for his new communities will provide monthly necessities to dozens of families in extreme need for over 6 months.
Aside from satisfying physical hunger, Fr. Bosco is concerned with bringing spiritual comfort to the many souls entrusted to his care. Your support for this project brings a sign of light and hope to these remote communities and impacts the growth of parish activities in support of their needy families.
