Care For Indigenous Communities on the Brazilian Amazon (10274)

Barreirinha is a city in Northern Brazil on the banks of the Amazon river. This is where PIME Missionary Fr. Gabriel Djata works at Our Lady of Good Help Parish. His parish includes many remote communities along the Amazon river, primarily consisting of Indigenous peoples on the peripheries with little to no income. Accessing these villages takes up to 14 hours in multiple boats. The costs associated with each trip, such as fuel, travel, food, and medications, limit the number of these visits. In 2025, Fr. Gabriel reached out the PIME U.S. Mission Center for annual support of $5,159 to bring the Gospel, the sacraments, spiritual care, and food to these marginalized communities. With your help, Fr. Gabriel aims to ensure all of God’s people, especially those who are the poorest, experience the love of Christ in their lives.
