PIME Missionary Fr. Paulo Aparecido de Amorim works in the mission of La Concordia in the highlands outside Acapulco in Guerrero, Mexico. Fr. Paulo and the PIME fathers in La Concordia care for the needs of 33 village communities of mainly indigenous people.
On June 19, 2025, Hurricane Erick hit the municipality of Ñuu Savi with great force causing considerable damage to homes, roads, infrastructure, and livelihoods. Already a vulnerable area, the Parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel saw its infrastructure affected and, even more seriously, the life and well-being of its faithful.
On a visit to La Concordia just after the hurricane hit, PIME U.S. Mission Center Director, Fr. Daniele Criscione, witnessed much of the destruction and need firsthand. Fr. Paulo has asked for the assistance of the U.S. Mission Center and its supporters for $5,556 USD to help their communities overcome the difficulties of the storm. Five of their 33 communities were especially hard hit and in need of basic food, water, and medical care and supplies. Other needs include pastoral materials for spiritual support as well as home and chapel repairs. Your help for this project will care for the most vulnerable in the time of their greatest need.
