In 1995, the St. Joseph Center was established in Phrae, Thailand, through a collaboration of PIME volunteers and missionaries. The Center provides support, education, and resources for children and young people with disabilities, seeking to foster their autonomy and integration into society. It assists children from Phrae and nearby provinces, and engages them in activities such as school integration, physical therapy, music, English, and recreation, as well as offering home rehabilitation services. The Center also focuses on raising awareness about the rights and inclusion of individuals with disabilities, who are often marginalized or stigmatized in Thai society.
PIME Missionary Fr. Maurizio Arioldi works with the children of the St. Joseph Center and recently let us know of repairs needed in order for their buildings to comply with the Thai government's regulations on facilities for minors. The main repairs are to the coverings in the exterior halls of three buildings. Fr. Maurizio asked the PIME U.S. Mission Center and its supporters for help of $11,090 to make these needed repairs. Your assistance will help Fr. Maurizio ensure that these disabled children in Thailand continue to have a safe place for their education and integration into society.
