The village of Tikem, situated in a rural area of Chad in the Diocese of Pala, faces significant challenges due to harsh climate and scarce resources. The local economy relies on subsistence agriculture and livestock, making it vulnerable to climate variations. Educational levels are low, and access to essential services is limited. The parish school in Tikem is a critical educational resource in an area with inadequate or scarce public options. It also fosters community amidst issues of poverty and limited opportunities for students.
Fr. Luis Alberto Perez de la Cruz, a PIME Missionary and the pastor in Tikem, brings Christ to the people of the village through his ministry. He recently requested the assistance of the PIME U.S. Mission Center and its supporters to ensure education for the parish’s students with $5,556 for the 2025-2026 school year. This funding will allow him to create a conducive learning environment for 125 children, including hiring teachers and basic school materials such as pens and pencils, blackboards, and desks. Your help for this project will offer these underprivileged students an invaluable education that they would otherwise not receive.
