Founded in 1995 in Phrae, Thailand, the St. Joseph Center was established through the collaborative efforts of PIME missionaries and volunteers. The Center is dedicated to supporting children and young people with disabilities by providing education, rehabilitation, and developmental opportunities that promote independence and social inclusion. Serving children from Phrae and the surrounding provinces, it offers a range of programs, including school integration, physical therapy, music, English language instruction, recreational activities, and home-based rehabilitation services. The Center also advocates for the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities, working to address the social stigma and marginalization they often face in Thai society.
St. Joseph Center Director and PIME Missionary, Fr. Prasanth Kumar Gunja, requested the support of the PIME U.S. Mission Center and its supporters for a $25,744 medical and educational project to assist the Center’s 45 children and 15 young adults for 2026-2027. Major expenses include physical therapy staff, medical supplies, facility renovations, utilities, and food. Your assistance will help provide specialized education, rehabilitation, and developmental programs assisting the Center’s disabled children and youth to become independent, confident, and with a greater sense of belonging within their communities.
